Lunch is over, you have a meeting in five minutes, and it just dawned on you – your breath might freak people out… or kill them.
We’ve all been in this situation. Sometimes you just can’t resist pungent food. And this, this is why I love gum and breath mints. But, I think gum and breath mints don’t get the kudos they deserve anymore. Let’s change that.
Speaking of gum…
In a hurry? Here are a few top picks…

3 Benefits of Chewing Gum
I love gum. What’s not to like? It’s all the great flavor of candy, only it doesn’t disappear after chewing. But, did you know there are actually some pretty great benefits from chewing gum?
1. Fresh Breath
Some nice, minty gum can do wonders for your breath. And unlike a mint, gum keeps fighting stink while you keep chewing.
Fun Fact: Did you know August 6th is National Fresh Breath Day? Don’t forget to brush and floss!
2. It Cleans Your Teeth
When you think of gum, you probably don’t think, “cleaner of teeth.” But, sugar-free gum, especially that which is sweetened with xylitol, can stimulate the production of saliva and help keep your teeth clean!
3. Chewing Helps You Focus
Some studies have concluded that the act of chewing gum can actually help you maintain focus. This is especially true if the task involves visual memory or repetition. Gum is like an “old school” fidget spinner.
So, we’ve already settled that gum is awesome. But, which brands of gum are worth chewing? Let’s find out…

28 Best Gum Brands
There are more brands of gum than one could ever count, let alone chew. But, who says they’re all worth chewing anyway? Without further ado, here are the top 28 gum brands.
1. Trident Gum
With 9,000 flavors (maybe a slight exaggeration) and numerous variants, Trident is the undisputed king of gum. I think we can all agree Tropical Twist is the best flavor.
2. Dubble Bubble Gum
The top-selling twist-wrapped gum in America, Dubble Bubble is an American icon. While available in several flavors, the original bubblegum flavor is a true classic.
3. Wrigley’s Doublemint Gum
Like Trident, Wrigley has an enormous selection of flavors to choose from. But, their most popular is arguably their doublemint, and for good reason – it’s the minty stuff of legends.
4. Orbit Gum
Orbit gum, from Wrigley, is another minty hit. Orbit has numerous flavors, and I’ve liked just about all of them. While similar to other gum in taste, I find Orbit to be softer to chew and more pleasant.
Bubblemint is one of the greatest inventions in candy history.
5. Bazooka Joe
Bazooka Joe, like Dubble Bubble, is another classic “gum-flavored” style of gum – with comics! I grew up chewing this stuff, and still enjoy a piece from time-to-time. Tasty gum and a comic, what’s not to like?
6. Wrigley’s Winterfresh Gum
Wrigley’s finds another spot on this list with their minty-licious Winterfresh gum. Winterfresh gum has a unique minty taste that actually lasts. When you’re not in the mood for traditional mint, this is a solid choice.
7. Ice Breakers Ice Cubes
Ice Breakers, owned by Hershey’s, has numerous gum and mints under their belt. Their Ice Cubes set themselves apart with their fun shape and a satisfying texture. These are also a great fit for your car’s cupholder.
8. Mentos Gum
Mentos, while famous for their mints, has numerous gum offerings, ranging from sublime to wild flavors. From Pure Fresh Spearmint to Red Fruit Lime, Mentos offers a flavor for every taste.
9. Eclipse Gum
Eclipse gum, another Wrigley’s offering, is available in numerous minty flavors. Unlike some gums, Eclipse has a hard shell around it, giving it a nice crunch before you start chewing your heart out.
10. Extra Gum
This should come as no surprise at this point, but Extra is yet another Wrigley’s brand. Extra was launched in 1984 as Wrigley’s first sugar-free gum, and is still a great chewy option today.
11. Stride Gum
Stride is known as “the ridiculously long lasting gum,” and for good reason. This gum packs a lot of flavor, and holds onto it longer than any gum I’ve ever chewed. This one’s a keeper.
12. Wrigley’s Big Red
*GASP* What’s this? Another Wrigley’s branded gum? Big Red is the Red Hot of the gum world. It’s hot, it’s full of cinnamon, and it’s divisive among gum-chewers everywhere.
13. Dentyne Ice
Much like Eclipse, Dentyne Ice sports a slick candy shell on the outside. Dentyne Ice comes in many flavors, but the most popular is their classic peppermint.
14. Wrigley’s Freedent
I know, I know, another Wrigley’s brand. Freedent, while cursed with a dry name (sounds like something to be used with dentures), does offer something unique – it doesn’t stick to most dental work. A great option for this niche.
15. Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape
A favorite with kids, Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape is famous for its size. At six-feet long, Bubble Tape is a big contender when it comes to classic bubble gum flavored gum. It’s also a blast to chew, whether you’re a kid or an adult hiding in their office.
16. 5 Gum
Known for their strange commercials, 5 Gum is a Wrigley brand that focuses on bold flavors. Many find their flavors to be all kinds of unappealing and weird, but that’s the risk you take with bold gum!
17. Juicy Fruit
Juicy Fruit is a true classic with a one-of-a-kind flavor. While I love this gum, it has a huge flaw: the flavor from a stick is often gone by the time you read this sentence.
18. Fruit Stripe Chewing Gum
There’s a big chance you chewed Fruit Stripe when you were a kid. Its wacky flavors and temporary tattoos on the paper make it a blast. Don’t tell anyone, but I still enjoy it every now and again.
19. Jolt Gum
Jolt Gum, from the makers of the famous Jolt Cola, features caffeine and B-vitamins, gives you a swift kick in the pants when you need it most. It also has a great flavor to boot. Did I mention I love this gum?
20. Big League Chew
Big League Chew is the stuff of legends when you’re a kid. This gum comes shredded up inside a pouch. While it’s meant to be chewed, most of us simply tried to see how much of the stuff we could jam in our mouth when we were little.
21. Bubble Yum
Speaking of gum kids love, Bubble Yum is a classic bubble gum that comes in numerous flavors. Bubble Yum is especially soft, making it delightful to chew. It also makes for some epic bubbles.
22. Bubbaloo
Bubbaloo sets itself apart from most of this list and other gums by having a liquid-filled center. This gum started as a hit in Mexico, but can now be found in more than 25 countries!
23. Razzles
Razzles almost break the gum rule, as they start off as candy. But, upon chewing it for a moment, it magically transforms into a gum. These are a blast to eat and always a hit with the younger crowd.
24. Super Bubble
Super Bubble is right up there with Bazooka Joe when it comes to classic gum. Super Bubble is your standard bubble gum, wrapped in a piece of wax paper. It’s nothing fancy, but it doesn’t try to be.
25. Bubblicious
Made in an effort to compete with Bubble Yum, Bubblicious is another soft gum great for bubble blowing. With a ton of flavors to choose from, Bubblicious is sure to please just about anyone. Watermelon Wave is my favorite flavor!
